~ Art Doll Journal ~ what do ya think?

Many people have suggested I sell prints of my dolls.... I'm not sure about prints per se, so I thought I would have a play.  I succumbed to purchsing a Zutter Bind-it-all (didn't need much encouragement!) It's a whole heap of fun! (except for reading the instruction manual, ugg, I hate that)

Experiment One Your thoughts s'il vous plaît?

This journal/sketch book features Snowflake on the cover.  The inner cover details a charming quote.  Snowflake and the quote, are printed on Strathmore watercolor cold press inkjet paper, and have a slightly bevelled edge to augment dimension.  6x6", 160 pages of premium acid free 110 gram  pale cream paper.  Silk ribbon completes.
I couldn't decide on ribbon, so have ordered this gorgeous ribbon as a contrast...

If you haven't met Lillalota who creates top notch printed ribbon in the South of France, visit her shop ~ HERE ~

*Would love some feedback*

I also played around on Etsy, instead of working..... my latest Treasury....called...
"Out of place, but what a beauty!"

  2. Hellooo Batty B! I love the Art Doll journal idea and have a huge fondness for anything paperish, particularly that which has historic look and quality. The ribbon is divine and you scrounge up the most delicious finds on Etsy :) I'm curling up with another one of my favourite Brits this evening, Ian McEwan. Oh, and Harald too..kinky..hehe. If you have a moment, dahlink, I would love to hear a little more about your project..I'm very KEEN..your/my girl is on the cover!

  5. Hi Abi, your journal is just gorgeous! How fitting for your beautiful work! I think you definetely should try listing prints of your dolls! For those of us starving artist types, who truly love them, but can't afford to purchase an actual doll, it's the next best thing! Your photographs are always so pretty, and all have a certain touch of class, who wouldn't want one? I know several artist who sell aceos of thier dolls, but fine 8x10 prints would be even more desireable. Best of luck to you, no matter what you decide. I think evenything you touch turns to heavelny visions. XOXOX Christel

  10. Abi, you have the most amazing style and I love the items/links you share. I have been looking at different shops for ribbon so I will have to check out your link.

The journal is lovely. Your dolls are exquisite and the journal will be a nice way for others to have part of your creations even if it is via a print. (I safely keep the raffle ticket from last year!)

  15. A zutter bind-it-all allows you to make the ring bound books.

Wendy - this journal has no content.. it's just a plain sketch book. But, I am in the process of writing a book for the purpose of doll making - it's difficult!

  19. It's a great idea Abi. and... I love Snowflake....

this should be perfect for most dollmakers... it seems they all keep journals. All but me, that is. I should though... because I never remember from one doll to the next what the heck I did right. At least I need to keep track of the stuff I did right! It seems I go through all the wrong stuff over and over... worse than groundhog day it is, making dolls sometimes...

looking forward to your book on making dolls..

  23. I'm a paper, journal, ribbon junkie and I don't want re-hab. I just want to indulge myself as often as possible. I mean, really, how many journals can a girl have?? As many as she wants. I need to check out this Zutter Bind-it, too! Thank you for the tip. Abi, your creativity just keeps getting more, and more brilliant! Hang in there with your book. All your hard work will pay off. You will open up new worlds for people who've always dreamed of making a doll. <3

  24. I think your album looks great! I love my Bind it All, but I don't use it nearly enough. I actually printed photos of my dolls so I could make an album just for me to remember them all! I think it is fun to watch how my style and techniques evolve!
