Here is a new custom doll. I hope Beth won't mind me saying, since this is so personal... her sister has a degenerative illness, and this doll is a kind of eulogy. I feel so privileged to have created her with Beth.

One of my art doll maker friends, has authored a book. Patricia of Papillon Blue UK. It's written in English & French, & is an absolute treat!
Lets hope it becomes one of the best selling books of all time, like this one ~
Written by British author Anna Sewell in 1877.
It has a quote at the very end, which encapsulates my thoughts about people and religion, but could never quite word it as I wanted to. Here it is ~
....
".... there is no religion without love, and people may talk as much as they like about their religion, but if it does not teach them to be good and kind to man and beast, it is all a sham...."
~Black Beauty, Chapter 13, last paragraph.
(I think my mum & dad would agree)

Your doll is absolutely beautiful, Abi, and what an honour to create such a lovely doll. As for the book by Papillon Blue, I love her dolls...they too are amazing...what's with you English/Euro-ladies!!?? LOL
ReplyDeleteI almost fell out of my seat when I read the quote from "Black Beauty." When I was a teenager attending Catholic girls school, I had that quote in big letters inside the door of my locker...used to upset the nuns, hehehehe, but then why would they be upset?
We once hid a kitten in a friend's locker since one of the boarders had to give it up. We left it with water and would take it home after school. About 3 hours later, the school principal announced over the intercom that the owner of locker, the number escapes me now, and those involved with it's contents, please report to the the office, a.s.a.p.!! Got me out of Algebra!
Luckily, one of the students lived across the street from the school and said her mother would care for it till after school!! More to that story for later, though!! LOL But our little guy lived a very happy, fulfilling life and lived to the ripe ol' age of 20, human years...by then we were all married with families!!
Speaking of little kittens, your babies look like they're coming along fine...you are truly the Pied Piper of animals...they know where to go and be loved.
Have a wonderful weekend.
xxoo,
Georgina
Another absolutely gorgeous creation! I love your dolls!!!
ReplyDelete"Black Beauty" is a favorite. The kittens are adorable. Now back to the latest beautiful creation. I call that a project of love...God bless you...

That is so touching, how you and the sister created such a special doll. She will definitely be treasured.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Papillon Blue...I will have to stop over and check her book out!
I completey agree about religion. My Dad wasn't a religious man but he told me when I was young
to "treat people as you want to be treated" and I try to live by that. I don't understand how people think they can get into Heaven (or whatever they believe) if they don't have compassion and empathy for other living things. I just breaks my heart sometimes...
Glad to hear the kitties are doing reasonably well and by the way , It took me FOREVER to find the 4th cat! LOL! (#4 being the black one laying behind the car).
XOXO - Cindi
I used the comment above to cheat and find the 4 cats...heehee! They sure look happy :)
ReplyDeleteAs for your little furry bundles...they are sooo cute....I love Goatee's goatee...haha!
Your dolls are exquisite creations, My Dear...it is no surprise that you were asked to collaborate on such a special doll...
..and I love the quote...I sometimes think that Love is the only religion we need :)
Your doll is beautiful and I love her book. Cats very cute!!!!I want kiss them!!!
ReplyDeleteA greeting
Ana.
Sunshine girl, I go to a funeral today for a beautiful woman that cancer took. She was a co-worker, a swimmer, a mother extraordinaire and I watched her children grow-up as a life guard and as she and her husband ran with my uncle. sigh. I am so grateful to you for the beauty you show us, friend. The things I needed to see, like sweet kitten faces and dolls of eulogy... who knew and yet, there it is like a balm. I am grateful. Blessings and love, Amy
