Polymer Clay Experiment! WIP

I have finally succumed to trying out Polymer Clay... I'm loving it so far, I have to say it's much easier than working with fabric... I have so many ideas running through my head, I can't work quickly enough. I quite like the idea of cheating and using a ready made mold (just discovered they exist!) but I think it would be more rewarding (although more frustrating!) to start from scratch. I'm trying to make a bust...I find getting the eyes to match a pain in the butt. I'm scared to put her in the oven incase it goes wrong! not that I'm ready for that yet!
I have also 'met' a new artist, who is such a sweet chick. She made this adorable pup. Isn't he cute?! Linda is also promoting a giveaway from Sarah of Cotton garden studio so go check both artists out!

  9. I think the mouth looks great! I'm thinking about trying paperclay myself. They say polymer clay is toxic so you need a toaster over to bake your stuff in. Good luck. I can't wait to see the rest of it!

  10. Ahhhh yep I'm getting ready to have a go at polymer clay too! Once I get my cloth dolls out of the way...10 naked rabbits and 10 naked elephants are huddled around the heater at the moment waiting to be clothed!!
Working with this medium seems to come naturally to you, I just know dust, cat hair and dirty fingers are going to be an issue with me:)
Cant wait to see the rest of the model!!

  13. Sonia! I was wondering how you get wrinkles in the clay?!! I'm not sure what you mean really, I just smoothed the clay with ma fingers and thumbs! I baked her last night, expecting cracking and air bubbles, but she came out as smooth as she went in - first time fluke I wreckon!
